Catalytic properties of supported oxides in solvents

To advance in biomass processing it is crucial to develop innovative catalysts that are hydrothermally stable and maintain high activity when employed in harsh conditions. My dissertation focuses on the synthesis, development, and characterization of such a catalyst. Suitability testing will be performed with typical biomass model reactions to demonstrate the catalysts stability and activity when subject to biomass processing conditions. The study of various transition metals (W, Mo, Re) for hydrogenation and condensation reactions and thus creating a bi-functional catalyst for biomass processing is a main goal of this work.
