Welcome to our webpage! Our research mission is to design catalysts with modulated functionality and geometry to optimize the activity and to understand and control the product selectivity. Long-term stability and reusability of our catalysts is a particular focus aiming at applicability beyond the lab scale.
We are developing catalysts for biphasic organic reactions. We use molecular surface-active catalysts, which aggregate in solution via supramolecular interactions, e.g. as micelles in water. The self-assembled supramolecular aggregates have a multitasking funcion: they serve as host matrices for both the catalyst and the substrate, thus acting as “nanoreactors”, and they are recyclable from the biphase system.
