Research topic: Tailoring Responsiveness in Metal-Organic Frameworks

In the last two decades, the expanding class of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has gained a lot of interest due to their outstanding properties (e.g. high surface areas, permanent porosity, reversible guest uptake) and wide range of application possibilities (e.g. gas storage and separation, catalysis, sensing). Pia Vervoorts’ work includes the preparation of functionalized linkers influencing the gas adsorption selectivity towards certain gases. Furthermore, the tailored design is used to trigger the MOFs response to outer stimuli such as the flexibility induced by host-guest interactions.
