Research Topic: Selective Positioning of MOFs at Substrate Surfaces
My doctoral research deals with the integration of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) into devices. Therefore, the selective positioning of MOFs at substrate surfaces plays a crucial role. Bottom-up and top-down approaches are used to control the surface patterning of MOFs@surfaces.
In a second step a novel microfluidic reactor based on nanometer-sized metal-organic frameworks (NMOFs) as the key feature will be manufactured. Thus enabling selective surface anchoring of the NMOFs inside the microfluidic device, which in turn will allow for efficient, sustainable and highly controlled in-flow catalysis. Consequentially the aim is to utilize the distinct advantages of microfluidics, such as consistent reaction parameter control, enhanced analytical sensitivity and straightforward parallelization possibilities and combine these with the unique nano-scale properties of NMOFs.
