Research topic: Synthesis and reactivity of [Nin(ECp*)m] clusters with focus on cluster growth
The PhD project aims to explore the playground of intermetalloid Hume-Rothery inspired cluster chemistry. On the way to large metal-rich clusters, gaining insight into cluster formation is essential. By different approaches, cluster growth will be initiated and intermediates will be captured. The reactivity of the awaited oligonuclear compounds is about to be tested towards different organic substrates.
Quantum chemical calculations are applied to shine light into the complex bonding situation of new compounds.
